LHCC Youth Wired

How many hours are you connected to some kind of technology on a normal day? If you were to add up your hours online, your glances at text messages, your streaming music, your perusing social media, your Netflix addiction, how many hours could you count? It’s probably a lot. Our culture is obsessed with technology—and with good reason. Technology keeps us connected to each other and to the world around us. Nearly every device we own transmits signals to something else, somewhere else. Why? Because that’s how they’re wired to function. Our phones, tablets, smart watches, gaming systems—they all are wired to connect to something outside them. And the same is true for us. We are wired for connection. It’s in our design. As we take a closer look at what Jesus called “the greatest commandment”, we discover that we were wired to have three vital relationships: with God, with ourselves, and with others. And when those connections are made, everything else begins to function as it was designed.

When: Every Wednesday night from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm

A Safe and Fun Environment

Children's Ministry

Sundays: 9 and 10:30 a.m.

Wednesdays: 7 p.m.

We welcome you and your children to La Habra Christian Children’s church! We serve ages 6 weeks through the 5th grades.

Our hope is that Sunday morning here at LHCC has a rich and meaningful experience for every member of your family.

Jesus says in Matthew 19:14 “Let the little children come to Me, and not forbid them, for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.” Our vision for the children here at LHCC is to provide a loving, secure and fun environment in which a child will be encouraged to develop into the young person that God wants them to be. The most important part of the child’s Christian walk is the foundation, because a building can only be as strong as the foundation on which it stands.

We know that as parents your main concern is your child’s (spirit, soul, and body), so as parents, God has called you to play a most important part in the formation of your child’s spiritual growth. You are the ones to disciple your children as to who God is and how to have a relationship with Him. To help them understand that He alone is the one who changes hearts.

Psalm 78
commands us to teach our children:

1 My people hear my teaching;
listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth with a parable;
I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
3 things we have heard and known,
things our ancestors have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach their children,
6 so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
7 Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.

Nursery (6 weeks-2 years)
Preschool (ages 3-5)
Elementary (grades K-5th)

It is our responsibility to supplement what you are teaching your child at home. We hold fast to the promise in Proverbs 22:6 which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Speak the Word of God to them. Their spirits are well able to receive it.

Assist Those Struggling

Benevolence Ministry

Next Food Distributions

I encourage those church members who have not yet had the opportunity to participate to email me at coonsbill@sbcglobal.net or text me at 714-309-1468.

“For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, the needy and to the poor, in your land.’  Deuteronomy 15:11

Food Distribution Program

This Program is just one of several programs that are a part of the BENEVOLENCE MINISTRY.

The Food Distribution Program was established on 02/19/2009, with our first distribution on 04/18/2009, at which time we served 9 families (39 individuals)

Since that time our monthly distribution has steadily increased in participation by families from La Habra, Fullerton, Rowland Heights, Whittier, Brea, Monterey Park, Walnut and La Puente.

During 2014 we displayed a 10’x6’ sign which resulted in a substantial increase in participation.

For the year ending 2016 we served 552 families (1,920 individuals).

This program has substantially changed from the original established program.

From April 2009 to May 2016 we were picking up food from Dovetail Ministries in Montebello, Ca.  In June of 2016 Dovetail closed their operation.  However, we were very fortunate to have been able to sign up with Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Due to this change we have been able to successfully improve the quality and quantity of food.  Our current monthly cost to provide this program is about $140. (Rental Truck, Fuel, and Shipping Charges)

Our program has also been blessed due to the monthly contribution of a variety of produce donated by Ed & Julie Williams.  THANKS SO MUCH

The new program, through LARFB, is now called, “The Emergency Food AssistanceProgram” (TEFAP) This is a government sponsored program that allows us to acquire food from LARFB and pay only their shipping charges of $19 per thousand pounds per month which is included in the $140.

We are currently purchasing an average of 950 pounds of food per month.

The goal of this Ministry is to assist those struggling families or individuals’ transition back to a self sustaining life. The Ministry also offers spiritual guidance, financial counseling and information on various other resources.

Our Church and Pastoral staff are deeply committed in reaching out to those in need in our community.

Having compassion on a needy brother is proof of the love of God within us. (1 John 3:17)
We honor God when we are kind to the needy. (Proverbs 14:31)

We encourage the members of our congregation to get involved in this Ministry.  It is a great opportunity to serve by helping those in need.

If you would like to be part of this growing Ministry please contact Bill Coons at (714-309-1468), email at coonsbill@sbcglobal.net or anyone on the Pastoral staff.

Having true compassion for the needy, as modeled by Jesus (Mark 8:2) means we are aware of the need, we care about the people involved, and we are ready to act on their behalf.
